Training your dog is simply a way of ensuring that it acts in a disciplined and adequate way. Dog training certainly is a process that involves a series of well-articulated directives repeated constantly enough for a dog to get used to and respond to. There are countless aspects of dog training. However, obedience dog training is a fundamental training process that a dog must go through first. It is the desire of all dog owners’ that their dogs obey their order. Once you can train your dog to obey, every other thing falls into place.

In obedience dog training, there are five basic directives or behaviors that a dog is taught. They are:

- Down: This order is generally uttered to calm an especially exuberant dog. Your dog may be the overly excited kind that loves to paw human beings, lunge at them or even tug at their clothes. Teaching a dog to stay down when you order it to can help to keep its excesses in check. The ‘down’ order is certainly a position of subservience the dog adopts when it is being excessive in its behavior.

- Sit: You can train your dog to sit down in a precise place. This order is good for situations where you can’t go into precise places with your dog. Teaching your dog to sit down and stay put while you shop or get hold of something prevents it from wandering off and getting lost.

- Stay: The stay order is almost similar to the sit order except that you use it in situations where you are going to leave your dog alone for an exceptionally long period of time.

- Recall: Calling your dog to you is a order that establishes you as the master. The recall order is designed to call your dog’s attention to you and to get it to come to where you are.

- Close or loose leash walking: You need to teach your dog how to respond to a leash. One basic dog-training tool, the leash enables you to do a variety of things ranging from walking your dog to correcting your dog. A dog that isn’t used to a leash may not be able to respond favorably to your other directives.

Each of these directives is executed using different words depending on the dog trainer. Use words that your dog will easily grasp and get used to.

If you surf through free websites advertising dog sales you will realize that there are many dog owners who place advertisements to sell their puppies. These advertisements are normally placed by professional dog breeders who are backed by a sound reputation. They are also very passionate about the dog breeding profession. But some dog owners who place advertisements for the sale of the puppies are inexperienced and unaware of the requirements necessary for dog breeding.

If dog breeding is not your primary occupation but if you still intend to breed your dog to make some profit and a new puppy to your pet family you should necessarily go through the following measures before you go in for dog breeding.

Some people who make their living out of dog breeding know that they are supposed to give ample of time, attention and caring so that the puppies are strong and healthy. Some people even purchase dog pajamas, because they love them so much. You may have to spend a lot of time for this everyday. So go for it only when you are sure that you have enough time and perseverance for it.

You will have to spend a lot of time in advertising and handling inquiries on the phone from interested buyers. Many people who are interested in buying a pup may ask you many questions related to petting a dog so you will have to do your homework well. You will also need to have enough time and patience to answer their queries.

Many people who call you may even want to see the puppies but there is absolutely no guarantee that these prospective buyers will buy a puppy from you. If you have the capacity to emotionally and financially deal with such people only then should you consider dog breeding as a likely profession. Some people who are new to this business may not have the traits necessary to handle such customers.

As a dog breeder you will have to collect all the information pertaining to dog breeding and genetics. You should have adequate knowledge about genetic diseases and the preventative measures that you can use to combat them. You will need to purchase many different dog supplies for your dog. If you travel you will need a airline dog crates.

You should know how to take care of the complications that may arise during the whelping phase. Many dog breeders think that dog breeding is all about putting a male and female dog together to mate. But this couldn’t be further away from the truth. If you want to get into the business of dog breeding it is necessary that you have adequate knowledge about the various health problems and the remedies to solve them. You should also know what nutritional requirements of the mother in her pre and post pregnancy phase.

A puppy can bring so much warmth and love to your life regardless of who you are, where you are and at what position you are in life you can never go wrong with a puppy. Thousands of very happy and content pet owners will tell you that getting a puppy enriched their lives in more ways than they had ever imagined. So whether you are old or young, a single person or a father looking for a pet for your kids, getting a puppy home can be the most fulfilling experience of your life.

So you have just retired…..

If you are close to retiring or have already retired, a dog may be the perfect companion for you. You will have a lot more time on your hands so you will be able to take care of your new pet. Also most people start experiencing health issues once they retire due to inactivity so getting a pet will certainly take care of this.

Once you decide to get a pet, take some time out to get more information on the various breeds available in the market. This will help you to choose a pet that suits your needs. If you intend to lead a peaceful but generally sedentary life certain breeds may not be right for you. But don’t worry, there are hundreds of breeds and dogs out there so you are sure to find one that is perfect for you.

If you are just getting started in life

Getting a pet can be a perfect solution for a young adult going through college or for a person who is just getting started in life. With all of life’s trials and tribulations, imagine coming home to the loving warmth of a loyal companion who also happens to be a good listener. A dog may be just the reprieve that you are looking for but getting a dog has its fair share of responsibilities and you need to make sure that you have the time for them before you get a puppy home. You need to also get some dog supplies for your dog. You can get some dog cage covers and some cheap dog crates for your dog. These are essential to training a dog.

Remember that young puppies need constant attention and care. You will also need to invest time in their training and well being.

Getting a dog will put a strain on your wallet. Pet food and regular veterinary check ups are necessary expenditures related to dog ownership. So if you are living on a shoe string budget you may not be able to afford a dog

Once you pet a dog he is your responsibility and it is a commitment for the rest of his life at least. So if you are not sure about your future plans or if you just look at pets as temporary acquisitions or playthings, a dog is certainly not for you. The normal life span of a dog is between 10 to 20 years so get a dog only if you are willing to commit yourself for years to come.

If you are a family man with kids

Dogs make wonderful companions for your kids. They will help you to teach your child important values such as patience and responsibility. And of course kids love animals. So if you are planning on getting a family pet you are certainly treading in the right direction. But before you bring a little fur ball home make sure to get more information on the various breeds. Certain breeds like the Great Dane are perfect around children even though they are massive but there are some breeds that are not the right choice for a family pet.

If you want to give a lower body massage to your dog this article will guide you through a step by step process beginning from his neck and going down to his toes.

To remove the tension off the dog’s neck you should rub the neck area very gently. There are some muscles on the back of his neck. The skin covering these muscles is very loose so finding these muscles is very easy. Soothe these muscles by gently rubbing them with your fingers. Do the same with muscles on the side of the neck. Make sure you massage the area around the wind pipe gently any pressure applied here can be potentially dangerous.

Next with both your hands on his back, apply gentle pressure on the area around the spine. Make sure that your hands lie parallel to the spine without putting direct pressure on it. This should be done for a minute. Follow this with an open palmed massage on the side for another minute.

For the next step use your fingers to gently massage up and down in a walking motion on both sides of the spine. Follow this with firm yet gentle long strokes. View these sweaters for dogs. You can find some that will be great for your dog.

Get him to lie down on his side and shift your attention to the top portion of his leg using gentle pressure. Give him five long strokes, starting at the side and going down to the top portion of his leg. Next take each leg in your hand and gently squeeze it for 10 seconds. Finally massage the leg tendons with your fingers. Each foot should be massaged one at a time by rubbing the area that surrounds the nails and the paw pads using small circular strokes. You will probably want to get a discount dog crates to take your dog to the place to get a massage.

For the next step gently straighten and flex the leg joints a few times. If your dog has a hip, bone or joint problem such as arthritis or hip dysplasia try not to touch the affected area. Flexing and rubbing the sore joints will be very painful for your dog. If you try to touch these areas your dog’s reflex will be to scream or yelp in pain. If your dog reacts this way while you are giving him a massage you should know that you have touched a sensitive area and you should try to calm him down by gently petting him or giving him a hug before continuing the massage. Now remember which part of your dog’s body is sore and try not to touch it in future.

Massage the other two legs in the same way by turning your dog to the other side

To finish the massage give your dog long gentle strokes that start at the top of his neck and go down to the tip of his toes. Repeat this procedure several times. These cheap dog clothes are great for pets in the winter and will doll up a doggie after a massage.

If your dog falls asleep you can be sure that you have done a good job. Even if he doesn’t fall asleep you can be sure that the massage will help him to feel relaxed and good.

Puppies are like little bundles of energy. They have a fairly good attention span and are very curious. If your puppy lacks these traits and you find him sleeping or sitting inactively you may want to take your pet to the veterinarian for a thorough check up. If the veterinarian doesn’t find anything wrong with your puppy you could use a natural way to augment his energy levels and attention span.

Be sure to view these dog clothing and airline approved dog crates they will come in handy while raising your dog.

There is certainly no need for animal medication unless your dog is suffering from a serious medical ailment. If your veterinarian feels that your dog is in a good shape you may want to use the guidelines given below to help your puppy to feel better and be more alert in a natural way.

1. Many pet owners tend to feed their dogs five times a day. This is alright with most pups however if the amount of food that you are serving your dog is too much it may result in lethargy and a short attention span. If your puppy is more than six weeks old you can safely shift from a five times a day feeding schedule to a two times a day feeding schedule. Usually pet owners tend to over feed their puppies because they want them to grow fast. Instead of being healthy, over feeding your puppy will harm him.

2. Most good quality pet foods will have the digestibility level mentioned on the package. Quality dog foods usually have a digestibility level of 85%-90%. This is just perfect to provide your dog with the necessary nutrients without making him feel lethargic.

3. Most vital ingredient in dog food is protein. Dog’s need protein to build muscle and for over all physical well being. The richest source of protein for dogs is meat. So meat should form the largest part of your pet food. Unfortunately many ready made pet foods are laced with heavy quantities of carbohydrates and very little protein. The carbohydrates make your dog feel drowsy inactive and lethargic.

4. You can also give your dog supplements of Vitamin B and proteins. But it is always safe to consult your veterinarian before introducing supplements as a part of the dog’s diet. Brewers yeast is a natural and rich source of Vitamin B and proteins and you can safely give brewers yeast to your dogs. You and your dog will love clothes for male dogs.

5. Omega 3 fatty acids are extremely healthy for dogs and humans alike. Most doctors and veterinarians will ask you to use Omega 3 fatty acids. In dogs they are responsible for increased concentration levels and a healthy coat. Flaxseed oil and fish oils contain substantial amounts of Omega3 fatty acids.

All pet owners go through one experience at least a few times in their lives and that involves finding a pile of puppy poop left by their puppy in various places in the house. Of course most pet owners successfully manage to train their dogs to use the bathroom in the right place and at the right time.

Unfortunately there are also many pet owners who go drastically wrong here by introducing the wrong types of training techniques. All you need to get by is some common sense to teach your dog about the correct bathroom manners.

The one thing that works in the favor of pet owners is the fact that most dogs hate to mess up their living space. They don’t want to leave puddles of urine and piles of poop in the place where they play and sleep. A young puppy may not understand this at the first go but eventually he will.

So to make life easy, let’s discuss a few simple house breaking tips that will help you to teach your dog where and when to do his job.

You may want to purchase some oatmeal dog shampoo or a pet carrier on wheels later on down the road for your puppy. Especially the dog shampoo oatmeal, its great for new puppies.

1. The first order of the day when you get up in the morning should be to take your dog to the designated bathroom area, or maybe outside. Once he does his job in the right place don’t forget to praise him and shower him with affection. This will show him that if he uses the bathroom in the morning he makes you happy. This will make it easy for him to remember the bathroom rule and he will be glad to comply since he is always eager to receive your love and affection

2. You will have to use a command word which your dog will later start associating with going to the bathroom. So use one single word other wise you will confuse your puppy. Some thing simple like “go potty” or “go pee pee” should do but stick to one and use it every time you lead him to the bathroom area.

3. Always use the same route when you are leading your pup to the bathroom area. In time your dog will also start associating this way with the bathroom. So when you lead him down that particular way he will know its time to go to the bathroom.

4. You can teach your dog a lot more with love and affection than with scolding and yelling. Always make training and house breaking a positive experience for your dog. Dogs really enjoy it when they are praised and loved by their masters, so do not forget to praise him when he uses the bathroom in the right place and at the right time. This will make him want to obey you everyday since he wants to earn your praises and attention.

Have you been asking yourself whether or not you need to put your dog on a diet?

The answer to that all too important question is…

As long as your veterinarian recommends it. Just as you are always told to seek the advice of your health care professional before attempting any type of diet, the same principle should apply to your dog. You cannot follow a proper diet while making sure your dog continues to get all the required nutrients without consulting with your vet.

Remember that your vet is an expert in the area of dog nutrition as well and has many special diets at their disposal. There are special diets for the dog with heart trouble, one with kidney disease, and of course one for overweight dogs. They also have access to prescription diet foods for puppies, for pregnant dogs, dogs with allergies, and dogs with sensitive stomachs.

Special diets come in all different varieties. There are both dry and canned diet foods for dogs. The canned variety comes in various sizes to meet the needs of different dogs, from the smallest to the largest.

Your vet may suggest mixing several different types of diet foods together. Special diets are often fortified with vitamins and mineral supplements. So you can trust that your veterinarian will suggest the best possible diet for your dog that will provide the best nutrition.

The Overweight Dog
There are not any quick fix diets for the overweight dog. If your pet is overweight it is your responsibility as a responsible dog owner to bring her weight back down to an acceptable range.

An overweight dog is quite similar to an obese person. They can be short of breath and always tired and sleeping. Moving around is a chore for the overweight dog since they have to carry around all that extra weight.

You should also remember that all that excess fat inside her body can lead to many other health problems as well. Excess fat in the body can cause a buildup of fatty tissue around vital organs like the heart, the lungs, or the digestive tract. This could eventually cause any of these organs to not function properly.

An overweight dog will need a diet that is low in calories so that she can lose some of the weight. Your vet will weigh your dog and determine how much she needs to lose. The vet will then prescribe the type of diet your dog should go on and how much she should be fed.

You will need to put in the time and effort to make sure that your dog is sticking to her diet. Make sure that none of the other members of your family are sneaking her snacks in between her feeding times. And absolutely not table scraps.

As long as you stick with it your dog will lose the excess weight and can go on to lead a long and happy life with you.

For all your the dog supply and other cheap pet supply stop by our store.

Understanding Your Puppy’s

A well-socialised mother dog is more likely to have well-socialised puppies as the puppies ‘feed’ off of their mother’s calm or fearful attitude toward humans.

Puppies are usually weaned at six or seven weeks, but are still learning important skills as their mother gradually leaves them more and more. Ideally, puppies should stay with their litter mates for at least 12 weeks

Puppies that are separated from their litter mates too early often don’t develop appropriate ’social skills’ such as:
• Learning how to send and receive signals,
• What an ‘inhibited bite’ means,
• How far to go in play wrestling, etc

Play is important to help puppies to improve their physical coordination, social skills and learning limits. Interacting with their mother and litter mates helps them to learn ‘how to be a dog’, and is also a way to explore ranking (i.e. who’s in charge).

Skills not acquired during the first eight weeks may be lost forever. While these stages are important and fairly consistent, a dog’s mind remains receptive to new experiences and lessons well beyond puppy-hood. Most dogs are still puppies, in mind and body, through the first two years.

Dogs communicate with their actions, movement of their eyes, ears, mouths, etc, body gestures, tail wagging and more. Know to tune into your dog’s body language, you’ll realize what he’s talking about and what he needs. Of course, each dog, like each human, has his own personality traits. Over time, you’ll no doubt come to learn these individual traits. But there are general moods and behaviors that you can expect from dogs.

Barking
Dogs bark for many reasons, such as when perceived intruders (humans, dogs, or other animals) approach its territory, for identification, when hearing an unfamiliar or unidentified noise, when seeing something that the dog doesn’t expect to be there, or when playing. Barking also expresses different emotions for a dog, such as loneliness, fear, suspicion, stress, and pleasure. Play or excited barks are often short and sharp, such as when a dog is attempting to get a person or another dog to play.

Dogs generally try to avoid conflict; their vocalizations are part of what communicates to other dogs whether they mean harm or are in a playful mood.

The bark of a distressed or stressed dog is high pitched, atonal, and repetitive (and tends to get higher in pitch as the dog becomes more upset). For example, a dog left home alone and who has separation anxiety might bark in such a way.
Some research has suggested that dogs have separate barks for different animals, including dog, fox, deer, human and cat.

Growls
Growls can be used to threaten, to invite play, and to show dominance. Growling should be watched with special attention because it can indicate dominance or aggression. A soft, low-pitched growl often indicates aggression; the dog may feel threatened and may be provoked to attack. An intense growl, without showing any teeth, may often indicate a playful attitude. Always consider the context of a growl, and exercise caution.

Whines and Whimpers
Dogs whine and whimper to show that they are either in pain, or are afraid, or when excited, such as when greeting another dog, or in anticipation of a treat or an outing. Some dogs may use whining as a means of getting attention.

Howls
Howling provides long-range communication with other dogs or owners. Howling can be used to locate another pack member, to keep strangers away, or to call the pack for hunting. Sometimes dogs howl in response to high-pitched or loud noises such as alarms, sirens, music, or singing.

Confidence
Dogs that are confident and comfortable will stand erect. Their tails will be up and wagging in a sweep. The ears may be pricked up or relaxed, and they will look directly at you. The mouth will be partially open in what some call a smile.

Fear
Dogs that are fearful will lower their stance. The tail will usually be down, tucked between his legs, although some dogs actually wag their tails when they are unsure and evaluating a situation. The fearful dog will not look directly at you. When he turns his head away, he’s thinking, ‘hmmm… if I don’t see you, you don’t see me, and nothing bad is going to happen to me.’

Dogs that are fearful or unsure may use “calming signals” to reduce stress for themselves or others with whom they’re interacting. Some of these signals include yawning, barking, intentionally becoming distracted, lip-licking, circling, sniffing the ground, or just sitting or lying down.

Aggression
Certain breeds are hard to read - their tails are naturally curled up, and their ears are always perked up. Some dogs don’t ever give any indication that they are going to bite so watch the dog’s muzzle. A muzzle will twitch before a bite.
Other signs of aggression include stiff legs and body with the tail straight out, ears “pinned” back close to the head, a lowered head with eyes fixed intently at you. The lips are sometimes drawn back in a snarl and a low growl is heard.

Many people mistakenly believe that hackled hair on a dog’s back means they are aggressive. However, these are usually dogs who aren’t at all confident - they’re apprehensive so hackled hair makes them look bigger.

If you are the owner of a working dog you need a training collar that works as hard as your dog works. The Tritronics Sport series are the most durable training collars on today’s market, being one hundred percent waterproof and designed to take the abuse given them by an active working dog. Hunting dogs dive through underbrush, jump into mud, swim streams, dive into lakes, and more as they work to grab the game. You need a training collar that can withstand this abuse.

Once you’ve made the decision to use a electronic dog collar you’re making an investment into training equipment that you’ll want to make sure works for you. Under all conditions. Tri-Tronics stands behind their products’ durability.

With a brand like Tri-Tronics, you can expect them to understand your needs for an easy-to-use, lightweight system that are top quality. That’s why they have taken to use state-of-the-art technology to produce compact and durable receivers and transmitters. A fantastic feature of the Tri-Tronics system is that they are made to work in both warmer temperatures with a bare hand or a colder temperature with gloves on.

Along with its small size and quality durability, the Tri-Tronics sports series can even train up to three dogs simultaneously. If you have more than one dog, it can be very confusing to training using systems that aren’t made for multiple dogs. The Tri-Tronics sports series collars are made with up to 20 levels of stimulation at continous and intermittent setttings, which can be advantageous to you because some behaviors can be correct with a lower level of stimulation while others may need a little or more less to correct. With this need taken into consideration, Tri-tronics has come up with the sports series.

Tri-Tronics has also taken into consideration that your working dog isn’t always going to be close by and allows you to control up to three dogs that are as much as one half mile away from you making it easy to keep track of what’s happening with each of them.

For going beyond electronic stimulation to sound prompts or reminders, the Tri-Tronics Sport series also provides this with the beeper option. This emits a sound, but no stimulation, and also for praise—positive being a more powerful training tool than negative. This allows you a full range of tools for training your dog or dogs, which can make it much easier, faster, and longer-lasting. The Tritronics system provides a full range of tools to help you train a happy, healthy, and obedient working dog.

Pet massage is a physical therapy akin to acupressure and chiropractic care. It can act as a great stress buster for your dogs. So this time for his birthday don’t just stop at giving your dog a big bone or getting him his favorite cake also gift him a relaxing and soothing massage. Get this chewy dog treats for your dog today.

Pet massage is a very affective treatment to relax your dog. It will make him feel loved, pampered and give him an over all feeling of well being. In other words, a massage is not only amazing for you but can also work wonders for your pet. A pet massage also has other benefits attached to it. It’s wonderful to get your dog used to strangers and being touched by them. So giving your pet a massage can actually prove quite useful the next time you have to take him to the vet or to the groomers.

With the growing popularity of pet massage treatments, many pet parlors are sprouting up in various cities and it is certainly not unusual to find more than a few if you live in a large city. But needless to say the services of a professional can be a bit expensive. So here are some tips that will teach you to give your dog a relaxing massage without spending a dime. It will be an enjoyable experience for both of you. Your dog will love outside pet beds or rawhide dog bones anytime.

Giving him a massage is the best way to show your dog how much you care. He will love the pampering and the attention and it will serve as a bonding time. For your dog it will mean a lot more than the services of a professional.

This article will guide you through a simple step by step procedure to give your pet a relaxing pet massage starting at his head and going down to his muzzle.

The first thing you need to do is to get your dog to sit in front of you.

Then start slowly with gentle, tender caresses. If you directly jump into the massage you will just frighten him so start the way you would normally pet him.

Start by petting him all over from his head down to his toes. Use long strokes that are firm and gentle. These will get his muscles ready for the massage and relax him enough to enjoy his massage. This should take about two minutes.

Next put one hand on top of his head and the other underneath his muzzle. With the hand on the head stroke him

After the head, move your attention to his ears and massage each one of them individually for a minute. A dog’s ears contain a lot of nerve endings so this will be a very pleasurable experience for him.

Finally massage his forehead and cheeks for 30 seconds each and finish off by gently massaging his muzzle for another 30 seconds
